CNN Meteorologist: ‘Definitely Some Inaccuracies’ in Gore Film

CNN Meteorologist Rob Marciano clapped his hands and exclaimed, "Finally," in response to a report that a British judge might ban the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" from UK schools because, according to "American Morning," "it is politically biased and contains scientific inaccuracies."

"There are definitely some inaccuracies," Marciano added. "The biggest thing I have a problem with is this implication that Katrina was caused by global warming."

Marciano went on to explain that, "global warming does not conclusively cause stronger hurricanes like we've seen," pointing out that "by the end of this century we might get about a 5 percent increase."

The case stems from a father's claims that the film is brainwashing propaganda, who told The Telegraph, "I am determined to prevent my children from being subjected to political spin in the classroom."

The Business and Media Institute has extensively critiqued the media's coverage of global warming in Fire & Ice, which covers a hundred years of coverage of global warming. While journalists have warned of climate change for more than 100 years, the warnings switched from global cooling to warming to cooling and warming again.

Update 16:13. Marciano also sarcastically said, "the Oscars, they give out awards for fictional films as well."

Update 10-05 10:50 | Matthew Sheffield. Later in the program, Marciano followed up with even more on how Gore is wrong, clarifying, however, that he does still believe in the theory of anthropogenic global warming.

“He does talk about tornadoes, implying there's an increase in tornadoes from global warming. That's not necessary true. What is an inconvenient truth is the globe is getting warmer and humans are the likely cause of it. So Al Gore's message we should lower emissions from green house gas is a good message."

Marciano also had more to say about Gore's hurricane postulates: "There’s other factors involved. There’s humidity, there’s wind, pressure fields, dust in the air, the list goes on. There’s much more that goes into making a hurricane, Kiran, than just warm water," he said, addressing anchor Kiran Chetry.

"But the thing about last year's hurricane season, were slightly below average and that was because we had el Nino, a lot of wind shear. A study that says an increase in wind shear will come as the globe gets warmer, which may decrease hurricanes, so the debate continues and I find it fascinating."

“Just don’t say anything for a couple more days," Chetry replied. Am I the only one who's suspecting Marciano had some major blowback for his even-partial transgression?

I wonder how much longer CNN will be paying him to work there?

Well, he is OBVIOUSLY on the

Well, he is OBVIOUSLY on the payroll of Exxon, so it doesn't matter!

Ought ohh

Hmm, this guy used to be a local forcaster here in PDX on KATU CH2. He left in 2003 after Rod Hill came over from KPTV when it was merged with KPDX and took the FOX name. (interesting) Rod Hill said that everyone needs to see the "Inconvienent Truth" at the beginnning of one his forecasts when it had first come out. I wonder if there had been an ideological battle that ran Rob out of liberal Portland even before the Great Puba Al's movie came out? Why he would go to CNN is a mystery...hope he doesn't get ran out of there for simply being what a good scienceman should be...skeptical

KPTV isn't interested in

KPTV isn't interested in providing the news. They'd rather serve up pap and eye candy to the mostly-liberal Portlanders who tune in.

Why else would Stephanie Kralevich and Shauna Parsons have jobs at all? Blondes with tits -- no brains.

As for Rob going to CNN, well, perhaps he saw CNN as "less-liberal".

Just 2 cents from Washington County....

You could say that for

You could say that for almost every news station out there. There seems to be more and more 20-30ish blonde/brunette tele-prompt readers every year. Spewing whatever the political director(news editor) programs into it without question.

(side note) Mark N is a better forecaster anyway. Steph K has no skills that I can see.

Anthropogenic warming the Democrats path to Socialism

The biggest inaccuracy is the claim that temperature follows C02.   In truth ice samples show that C02 follows temperature by about 800 years which completely blows out of the water all claims by Al Gore’s con job that global warming is man made.

We might just start seeing

We might just start seeing these meteorologists and scientists that have been completely ignored for the last few years, on this topic, now stepping forward.  I begins with those who are in the public eye, and they will need to start citing these studies and other scientists, and declare "Let the DEBATE begin ... FINALLY!"

It took this long for CNN to

It took this long for CNN to notice it- and acknowledged from a foriegn judge! Golly, Ogre Al is going to receive his PhD and Nobel price (God forbid) for this inaccuracies. CNN is late as always...

Expanding Arctic 1968-1974

Expanding Arctic 1968-1974. Paul. I'm grabbing the pic from the BMI Fire and Ice report.

With all the recent polar ice cap news being centered around only what has occurred since the early to mid 1970's, it's a bit revealing to see a map showing how quickly a warming process can reverse itself. I'd like to suggest that 1968 would have been years after that cycle of cooling (freezing) had begun - perhaps 20 years?

It's a bit difficult to tell, but it would look like the Northwest Passage, here in this graphic, is almost open. If the Arctic cap, in 1968, is in a period of expanding, then it would be rather safe to assume that their ought to be a map out there showing a polar ice cap (late 40's to early 60's) which was not unlike what we see today. Noel? Are you looking. (;~>

"Inaccuracies" is an

"Inaccuracies" is an understatement

The Rocky Mountain Collegian: Illustrating Idiocy

Replogle globe from 60's

Shows this passage open. But there is plenty of info around, even the first reuters report a few weeks back mentioned the 1906 Amundsen successful Northwest passage voyage. ( It was later removed from the reuters story ). That passage was known in the 1800's. The Arctic ice varies from 1-3 meters and the temperatures are in the 50's in August.

What I found most interesting is the technical ability of the satellites that the data back to the 1970's refer. It wasn't until 2000 that we had a satellite that could measure the thickness of the ice and see through the constant clouds cover around the Arctic. Prior to that we had low orbit polar satellites that could not see more than a swatch of the Arctic and not see through clouds. So what data are they referring back to?

Oh no, didn't anyone tell

Oh no, didn't anyone tell this young man that he isn't suppose to say anything that counters Al Gore? He won't be working at CNN long or he will come back in the next couple of days and correct his "mistake". Poor kid.
